The truth is that, upon departure, I didn’t know how I would make it to South Africa: I made my decision of going through Nigeria once in West Africa, and I wasn’t sure about going tough DR Congo or Angola. Fortunately, getting a visa for Angola, notoriously closed to tourists until recently, in Brazzaville, opened the rest of the Atlantic coast.

In total, I have ridden 34% in Africa away from the tar (7809 km), and some roads have been a real challenge. Luckily, the little hope I had that they were indeed going somewhere always came true.
